Sacrificial Anodes

The sacrificial anode is an element that protects against corrosion to other materials connected to it. Sacrificial anodes provide the grounding installation cathodic protection, providing increased durability of the buried electrodes to prevent premature aging due to the effects of corrosion. Cathodic protection by sacrificial anodes is one of the most used methods to minimize the effects of the corrosion electrode. Their installation is recommended in areas of low resistivity, for the protection of metal elements connected to a grounding system (tanks, pipes, etc ..). They are also used to protect the installation of stray current (earthing systems railway leg or near high voltage power lines). Installation is also advised in grounding rail sections or near power lines, thus preventing rapid deterioration occurs due to stray currents.
